Pardevalles with the ‘Carroleón’ and Vile La Finca with the ’50 Aniversario’, both reds with 92 points, are the best rated wines in a list in which the albarines stand out

Eleven wines from five wineries of the Denominación de Origen León, which submitted their wines to the evaluation of the technicians, were rated with more than 90 points, the reference that marks excellence, by the prestigious Peñín Guide in its 2022 edition. The Pardevalles winery (Valdevimbre) heads the list by number of references with high scores. The red Carroleón 2016 receives the highest score, with 92 points, while the red Gamonal also reaches 90 points, as does the barrel-fermented white Carroleón, the albarín from 2020 and the rosé from the same vintage, both distinguished with five stars, which marks the value for money.

Vile La Finca (Valdevimbre) equals the highest score with the 2017 50th Anniversary red, 91 for the 2016 red Vile La Finca and 90 for the 2018 albarín Vile La Finca. Gordonzello (Gordoncillo) also gets 90 points and three stars for the oak-fermented Kyra 2017, a white also made from the Albarín variety; Pincerna (Grajal de Campos) appears with the same score and also five stars for the Pincerna Sumiller 2020 red, and Tampesta (Valdevimbre) accredits its award-winning Golán Edición Limitada 2015, a gran reserva red, with another 90 points.

Every year, the Peñín Guide carries out an exhaustive analysis after evaluating and rating up to 10,400 references, an overwhelming figure that really constitutes an exhaustive photograph of Spanish wine.
